I have NEVER done CrossFit in my life before. I've always followed a scheduling of pure lifting with some cardio sprinkled in so I was pumped and scared all at the same time! It may seem quite intimidating at the beginning but once I started to get the hang of things it was an awesome challenge. I went into District 135 Fitness near Christmas and they were running a high intensity workout for the holidays that included doing multiple reps with each movement- long story short: Do all the movements with all the reps for 30 minutes straight and then pass out at the end :) I chose a lighter bar my movements and lighter weights for deadlifts since this was all a high rep workout. The point of this is to keep your heart rate up at all times, resting only when you have to. The team at District 135 Fitness is super friendly, very knowledgable and ready to interact you in any way. After their instruction I felt comfortable at performing the movements not only with the correct body form, but with confidence. The more confidence you have, the better you push yourself while working out! Are you knew to CrossFit yourself? Here's some info:

Another form of fitness I've never tried...kickboxing! If you have a love for kickboxing or just in general want to try something new, than you need this. You walk in- a bell goes off and you do each round for three minutes, followed by an active rest period. In total there are 9 rounds so you are in and out in 30 minutes! 9Round has multiple locations around Indianapolis, but I specifically learned about the locations in Greenwood, Southport and Avon. There are no set times to workout- and you can start the bell at anytime with coaches on staff helping through every movement.
Here's more about 9Round:
9Round is a specialized fitness center for people who want a unique, fun, and proven workout that guarantees results. 9Round offers a kickboxing themed fitness program that incorporates a functional, interval, cardiovascular, and circuit training regimens. The programs consist of a proprietary system of nine challenging workout stations developed by a World Champion Kickboxer.
So what are they offering in the New Year? Sign up now and save $180. Startup fee is only $19 and that includes gloves, wraps, PULSE HR monitor, key tag and drawstring bag! They are also knocking down there monthly rate by $20, to $88 a month for three months. Other discounts include those in the military, first responders and teachers.
Here's my attempt at doing this workout, and yes it's perfectly acceptable to laugh :) BTW this is sped up!
And I did this when I was done! HAHA!

Martin Nutrition & Fitness
862 S. St Road 135

Martin Nutrition & Fitness is your one stop shop for all things fitness. I had a great time learning from the pro herself, owner Stephanie Martin. We worked on a couple of movements I've been wanting to try and she was able to really work with me and my form, and push me so that I was doing each movement all the way through....so much so that I am quite sore as I'm writing this! Check out this video of some of the movements that caused me not to want to walk the next day! (video is sped up)
One thing that I think is unique to Martin Nutrition & Fitness is that their trainers are VERY qualified and knowledgable. I also stopped in to see some of their classes which included a lifting class that focuses on movement and technique along with a bootcamp that was a mix of EMOMS and AMRAP. They also offer a variety of options when it comes to your workout regimen. You can come in and on your own, work with a trainer or take advantage of all classes that are offered! Classes range HIRT & HITT to Strength and Athletic Training.

I think when it comes the New Year we are all on a quest to better ourselves, whether it be physically, mentally or spiritually. I don't know about you but sometimes life gets so busy that we literally don't make the time to stop, pray, or journal. I've been so guilty of that myself. A few years back I came across these journals, and with it came intentionality on my part. I chose to take 5-10 minutes of my day praying, writing things down and reflecting, and let me tell you when there's chaos all around you and you decide to do this; your perspective shifts and somehow that chaos isn't so bad. The first one with the verse on the front is a 6-month undated journal. Each month has specific sections outlined for you to be more intentional about the things you pray for: World & Nation / My Community / My Loves / My Family / Sweet Friends / The Burdens / Personal / Answered Prayers / Scripture / Quote
The next one is for kids! These are perfect for kids ages 6-11 and also has a similar outline: Little Children of the World | All God's Creatures | My Family | People Hurting | Friends and Classmates | Tests, Projects and Hobbies | Bible Verses | A Servant's Heart | I am Thankful For... | What Makes Me Smile?
I'd love for you to check out these prayer journals, I promise you they will be life changing! Keep an eye out on my Instagram for a giveaway I'll be doing where you'll have the chance to win both! If you can't wait, please support my partnership with Val Marie Paper and use this link HERE.
More to come on my wellness guide soon!

The Girls in Grey is a boutique started by three boss babes who love fashion, business, and all things grey. They love curating a collection of quality products, fun fashion, and boho with a little bit of an edge. What I love most about this group of women is that they exude love and confidence. Their community is all about encouraging and inspiring others to feel good and most importantly beautiful in your own skin!
On top of the awesome fashion they have, they also sell athleisure which is a favorite of mine! These pieces can easily be worn at the gym, to go run errands, or just to lounge around in. In 2019, GIG plans to focus more on community, confidence and giving back, they'll be rolling out a bunch of fun things to help others along with loving women from all walks of life along the way! I highly suggest you check them out and while you're there use my code for a discount: jcruzza10
